Born and raised in Compton, California the era where many would say music begun it’s true transition and growth, Steven Lamar Moore grew up in the mix of hip-hop, jazz, and old school soul music.
As a high school honor student, he earned a full Athletic Scholarship to the University of Oregon, where he graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Sociology in June, 2005. After many different career paths, including serving as an Intern/Assistant to Music Executive Michael McQuarn for two years, Steven realized his true passion was music so he enrolled in The Academy of Art University San Francisco to pursue a Master’s of Fine Arts degree in Music Composition with a concentration on film scoring, graduating in May, 2017.
An award-winning Film Composer, Steven scored on the award-winning film: “CAGED”- directed by Nick Power-Gomez and produced by Olivia Yang -which has been selected to seven film festivals: The London Lift Off 2016, The Auckland International Film Festival 2017 in New Zealand, The New York Independent Film Festival 2017, The Los Angeles Lift Off Film Festival 2017 , The San Francisco Media Choice Awards 2017, The Vancouver Lift Off Film Festival (Audience Choice Awards winner), and The Court Metrage Festival De Cannes 2017 in France.
As a Music producer, his collaborations range from Hip Hop to R&B artists such as: Problem, Bishop Lamont, and many more. Multi-platinum producer Warren G has stated, that Steven's "Music made me feel good, and took me to another place." Certainly, this will not be the only top producer in the industry to praise his work.
As an artist, he has produced the versatile Soundtrack Instrumental Jazz album “Feel. Good. Cool.” His first solo project released June 30th, 2017.
For his most recent work, Steven has composed for the highly anticipated independent films, “KINGS” directed by Jaamal Scott, which as recently been selected to four film festivals "Toronto Black Film Festival" (2018), "The British Urban Film Festival" (2018), "The BronzeLens Film Festival" (2018), and most recently "The Morehouse College Human Rights Film Festival" (2019). "KINGS" is currently being aired on Revolt TV's "indie film series" (2019). Steven has also recently scored short film titled, "Standoff" (2019). It was recently selected to the "Silver State Film Festival" (2019) in Las Vegas, and the "The Marina Del Rey Film Festival" (2019). Steven is currently in pre-production shooting a documentary looking to release in 2020, along with writing the film score and soundtrack (more details soon).
